A Magical Arrival – Using Disney’s Magical Express

We decided to do something very different on our last trip to Disney.

We were going to celebrate Brooke’s 10th birthday. She has been asking to go on a plane. So that is exactly what we did!

I have to say it was a nice change from driving like a maniac down 95!

Since we were flying, we decided to utilize Disney’s Magical Express (DME). This is the bus service that will pick you up from the airport and take you to your Disney resort. I am telling you, Disney has this thing down to a science!

A couple of weeks after we booked the DME, we received our luggage tags in the mail along with a little booklet to let you know how all of this will go down. I mean, they even tell you where to go in the Orlando airport when you arrive. I like it when I don’t have to think, especially when I am on vacation.

So we tagged our luggage at the airport when we arrived. Then bid it adieu. We didn’t see any of it until we got to our resort. How awesome is that?! You don’t have to wait at baggage claim at all!

When we arrived in Orlando, we hopped on the DME bus. There were plenty of cast members at the airport to make sure we got on the right bus. We did have to wait awhile once we were on the bus. It just so happened that we were the first family to board. They wait until the bus is full (or almost full) before departing. But we didn’t care! We were at Disney!!

After a ride over to WDW property, we had to wait until the driver got to our resort. The whole process took about 1 ½ hours. But it wasn’t too bad. We enjoyed watching the on board video and were just so excited to be on vacation!!

We got all checked in at our resort, had some dinner and relaxed! Bell services delivered our luggage right to our room. Awesome!

The worst part, however, was coming back to our room the day before we were to leave and finding the DME envelope hanging on our door!

Instructions and the trip back to the airport were just as organized and easy!! We were even able to check our luggage at the resort and they took it right to the airport for us. Although this time, we were not as happy. The post-Disney trip depression was setting in fast!

Tip – once you check your bags, they are locked up!  Be sure you have everything you need, and have put in all the items you don’t want with you.  Paul forgot to check all my cosmetics.  We had to pay to check another bag!

Hopefully we will be able to fly down again some other time. The DME certainly adds to the Disney magic!
